Student Document Management Information

Because of the rising cost of campus printing and the amount of waste generated by discarded prints and copies, Cumberland University is now tracking all print and copy jobs done on campus. All official students will be able to print and/or copy 300 pages each semester as part of their technology fee. Students paying a computer lab fee will be allotted 100 additional pages per lab fee. Pages generated beyond the allotted number will be billed to the individual student’s account at $0.10 per page at the end of each semester and must be paid. Grades, transcripts, and diplomas will not be issued until this obligation is met.

Print jobs are tracked by the username of the person logged into a computer laboratory, library, or other student-use computers. Students are responsible for all print jobs made by anyone logged in under their username. Careless user account management does not relieve any user of the print limitation or fees. Students must log off after every session and keep their password secure in order to avoid paying print fees generated by others. If you know or suspect that your username and password combination has been learned by someone other than the intended user, report it to the Office of Information Technology in Labry Hall immediately.

Copy jobs are tracked by students’ Social Security Number. Student accessible copiers are located in the Labry Hall Student Lounge, Vise Library, and Mitchell Student Center. To use these copiers, simply key in your nine-digit Social Security Number on the detached keypad and press enter. You will then be able make as many copies as desired. Ensure that you clear your code from the keypad once you complete your copy job. Codes left active in the system and used by others will be billed to the individual to whom the code belongs. If you know or suspect that your code has been learned by someone other than the intended user, report it to the Office of Information Technology in Labry Hall immediately. (Learn how to use the Equitrac Keypad)

You will not be notified when you meet or exceed your print/copy limit. It is the responsibility of each individual student to monitor the number of documents they generate.
