Academic Software Discounts
|
You may not
know it, but as a student at Cumberland University you are entitled to
discounts on the software you purchase. Often these discounts are more
than 50 percent off the retail cost of the product. Because we understand
that students need to watch every penny, we want to do everything to help
your dollar go farther.
Requirements
To receive academic discounts on software, you must be a qualified student,
faculty member or staff member form an accredited institution. You need
to provide proof of your academic status when placing an order. This is
usually done by faxing an academic ID to the software distributor.
Typical acceptable
proofs of academic status are:
- Dated
student, faculty, or staff ID card
- Current
class schedule
- Letter
from school on school letterhead
- Registration
form
Some require
one of the above, while others require two.
Additionally,
many software products that are sold directly from the manufacturer only
can be obtained at an academic discount, even if it does not state it
on the company's web site. All you have to do is ask.
FYI
Purchasing software at an academic discount for others who do not meet
the criteria for the discount is a violation of software license.
Cumberland
University makes no endorsement of the above or other academic software
retailers. This information is simply intended to provide CU students
with information on how to purchase academic discount software.
